ABOUT ME
My name is Cerys and I am firstly mum to Elodie and Clarrie and secondly a teacher. I teach Design & Technology and Food Technology part time in secondary school which keeps me learning and laughing. I currently teach in an autistic provision locally.
During the Covid pandemic a friend and I started The Sewing Collective Facebook group and we, with our merry band of stitchers made scrubs, hats, bags and gowns for the NHS. Over 10,000 items were created and gifted to those in need.
The many faces of those sewing hundreds of scrubs for Bath’s frontline workers - Somerset Live
I have been teaching sewing, machine and hand, to all ages, for over 25 years and have endless patience and good humour! I will teach you at your own pace, whether you are a complete beginner or would like to develop your skills further.I offer one to one tutoring and group sessions, at your venue or in my Garden Studio in Bath.
Testimonials
"My sewing sessions with Cerys are a delight. Her sewing room is very pleasant, the conversation flows and I always learn so much. I am not afraid of my machine anymore and have practised many new techniques. Coming home with a project I never thought I would be capable of sewing is simply wonderful"
"During my course I learned all about the essential tools of the trade, hints and tips for professional standard sewing and how to correct errors. At the controls of the sewing machine I learned how to thread a machine needle, install a bobbin, straight stitch, reverse stitch, zig–zag stitch and pivot."
" Cerys was very patient and good at meeting the needs of everyone in the class. I would thoroughly recommend the class. I am now hooked!"
‘Everyone had a fabulous time today, thank you both so much. It was such a great activity for them to do. It was possible for complete beginners; you led it and also supported each child individually with whatever they needed help with. Most of all they had great fun whilst learning new skills and they got to keep their creations.’
